AFRICAR ACADEMY PROGRESS
















Painting of Garrage and classrooms done, ground leveling on progress and Ministry of public works is giving the centre access from their main kisumu-kakamega highway and this will be complete soon.










Advertisement for key positions in the center is already done and sortlisting will be done by 15th Dec 2010.










Selection of the 1st 20 trainees is on process and this will be complete by 20th Dec 2010.










Training curricullum,rules and regulations for the centre has been drafted and is currently shared with key stakeholders. Final document will be out by end of December 2010.










Classes are likely to start by february since January will be orientaion period for center management team.










Challanges still ahead:










Training equipment,classroom chairs and tables still not sufficient as planned, more support still required in this area.










We still lack better computers for effective data management and training. We have old computers that may not do much.There is need for 5 Laptop machines.










Administrative fund for the 1st year (grace period)before the centre activities pick up and becomes sustainable is still our challange. The centre will be self supporting after yr 1

AFRICAR ACADEMY WORK SCHEDULE

Finishing is almost complete, next is ground leveling, connecting electricity to the academey, setting up classrooms with chairs and tables; fencing the academy; fitting the equipment ;fitting tools in the garrage and engauging academy staff. These are planned for November and December 2010.Training is likely to start in January 2011.

TRAINING HALLS FINISHING











The classrooms are finished, painting is about to start and paints have been secured, the next steps include:-








Ground leveling




Securing key garage machines and equipment




Furnishing the training rooms with furniture and associated equipment




Fencing the compund




AND








Developing the last floor for ICARE project offices promoting provision of affrdable sanitarity pads for vulnerable school girls . This will aslo promote girl child education and generate income for the center.
